Story of Lost Wallet

Today, I found myself riding the LIRR into the city, on a very rainy, windy, cold day.  As with most train rides, it was filled with an array of N Y people busy with their own business.  As you exit Penn Station, no matter what time, day or season, it is always filled with people and generally most exit up 2 sets of escalators to 7th Avenue & 32nd Street which is where I was going.  As I was proceeding, I overheard a conversation from a young man - dressed casual - but nice.  He was about 30, and although not physically resembling my oldest son, I was struck by the similarities.  He was speaking to a woman on his phone, whom I assumed was his wife.  He was saying he left his wallet in a taxi & had called to cancel his credit card, however, now he had no money to get home.  Then things got heated, he said: "What do you want me to do, go up and ask people for $1 till I have enough money?"  After we exited to the street, I could see he was so upset, I stepped aside to see if I could help & was relieved that I was able to give him $20.  He was stunned and I was at peace.

I was always taught you don't tell when you assist others, so telling this goes against my belief;however, I spent the day in "Gratitude".  Gratitude, that I had the extra $20 to give.  Gratitude that I have the many blessings in my life.  I spent the day in NYC seeing so many people with their hands out asking for help and remembering my mother saying "There but for the Grace of God go I."
So here I sit, for 12 yrs, with a business opportunity that I know has the potential to help people.  Everyone has ideas what they would do if they had extra money.  We always think about the little things in our lives, our homes, cars, clothes, but when we become faced with the needs of others whether due to illness, death, loss of property due to fire or homelessness and you are in a position to assist someone - That's what life is about, even if it's only something as small as a $20 gift to someone in need.   I'm grateful for this opportunity that was handed to me.  Maybe this could be your opportunity too.  #joinme
